Location details
Known as 'Queen of the Suburbs', Ealing's leafy and genteel atmosphere is its main attraction. Large Victorian and Edwardian homes, wide open spaces in the form of Ealing Common and many parks and well served transport links with the West End and the City attract families and professionals from around the world.
Central Ealing is where you will find many of the area's pubs, bars and restaurants, appealing in particular to young professionals who move to Ealing for its affordable housing and convenient rail and underground services. Also, a number of international schools and corporations established in Ealing bring a truly cosmopolitan feel to the area, which is also the hub of London's Polish community.
Property in the various estates and 'villages' of Ealing is predominantly Victorian and Edwardian in architectural style, with extensive new developments planned over the next two to three years in the Brentford area. The large Victorian town houses overlooking the common achieve premium prices, as do the impressive 1930s built houses on the Hanger Hill Estate. Spacious family homes are the mainstay of Ealing property, many of which have been converted into flats.
Formerly a bastion of bourgeois respectability, Ealing remains solidly middle class with good schools and lots of green space.
Cheaper and less salubrious than the rest of Ealing, West Ealing is a mixed area with a fair share of uninspiring Victorian and 1930's terraces.
West of here is Hanwell, expensive for the large houses around Golden Manor, but mostly comprised of Victorian and 1930's terraces which have proved attractive to families who find prices in Ealing beyond their reach.
